Scholarships can make the difference

Star athletes, honor roll students, class presidents. These are often who we think of when we hear “scholarship recipient.” But this isn’t the complete picture. In reality, many, many more people are eligible to for CCC scholarships, including students like Joseph Alfonso.

Joseph, originally from the Philippines, grew up thinking he couldn’t afford college. After his family moved to the United States, he finished his senior year at Country Christian School with good enough grades. He wanted to go to college and study computer science — but, like many, figured scholarships were out of his reach. Then he heard about scholarships at Clackamas. He took a chance. He applied. He got a response. “I was awarded the Niemeyer scholarship,” says Joseph. “I don’t need to worry about my tuition for the whole year.”

Scholarships make a big difference for many students like Joseph. Who, by the way, is now hard at work in his studies at CCC. You may be eligible for a scholarship or financial aid.
