Scholarships and Financial Awards
The scholarship process at SHC is a competitive one that assesses a student’s entire high school record - grades, test scores, leadership achievement, and community service. All students admitted to Spring Hill College will be automatically considered for merit scholarships.
We know that good work happens both in the classroom and long after the school day is over. Your academic achievements are certainly the most important to us, but so are the things you’ve done outside of class, like volunteer work, service projects and leadership roles. They are what make you a strong member of your community– and what can make you a valuable member of ours. Awards generally range from $7,500 – $16,000 a year and are renewable for an additional three years (a total of eight consecutive semesters) with satisfactory academic progress. You must be admitted to Spring Hill College to be considered for any type of assistance, and early applicants are first in line for scholarships.
Spring Hill Scholars, the most prestigious awards, recognize five students who epitomize the well-rounded Spring Hill student. Recipients will be chosen through a competitive interview process; additional materials and an on-campus interview are required. Selected candidates should have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.5 or higher, strong ACT or SAT scores (at least 27 ACT composite/1210 SAT critical reading and math). Student leadership, high school activities, and church or community service are all considered. Candidates will be invited to Scholarship Day on February 20, 2009. Students must be admitted to Spring Hill by January 12, 2009 to be included in the Spring Hill Scholars pool. The value of the Spring Hill Scholars award for fall 2009 is full tuition and comprehensive fees, with a four-year value of more than $100,000.
Gulf Coast Scholars are valued at $17,500 annually and are renewable for an additional three years (a total of eight consecutive semesters). These are restricted scholarships available only to students living in Mobile or Baldwin counties of Alabama; Escambia and Santa Rosa counties of Florida; Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties of Mississippi and the state of Louisiana. Eligible students should have a high school GPA of 3.5 and an ACT composite of 26 or 1170 SAT (critical reading and math).
Spring Hill College provides grants, scholarships and loans to students who demonstrate financial need based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. On-campus employment is also offered each semester. File your FAFSA online as soon as possible.
