The minor in Social Studies is intended to enrich and broaden the student’s understanding of the world in which we live. It can be taken in conjunction with any degree program with the intent to foster critical judgment, cultivate the ability to reason, and develop an ability to understand social scientific methods of analysis.

The AGES Department combines linked academic disciplines which unite the human and physical world. The Earth Science component of the department is primarily concerned with the physical world. The associated academic disciplines of Geology and Environmental Geoscience cover this realm. Anthropology and Geography combine human relationships with the physical world; how the physical world plays a role in the development and proliferation of culture and how humans impact the physical world. Additionally, geographic techniques important to understanding the world around us, such as Geographic Information Systems, and Remote Sensing, are included within the Geography discipline. A holistic understanding of the integrated Earth system is thereby gained through the combination of disciplines housed within the department.

Recent attention has focused on human impacts on the physical world. As human populations continue to grow exponentially, such realities become increasingly important. Conversely, population pressures place a strong burden on physical impacts on the human world. Such impacts include natural disasters, climate change, evolving landscapes, agriculture, water resources, transportation, and socio-economic change. All aspects of the human/physical condition are explored through the associated Departmental disciplines.

Due to these and other associated factors, employment opportunities are unprecedented in the disciplines housed in the AGES Department. Undergraduate degree programs and minor programs are detailed through the departmental links.

Freshman Scholarships

Transfer Scholarships

Endowed Scholarships

Endowed Scholarships are created through a gift made to the College’s endowment, and follow a formula where the interest earned from endowment performance is dedicated toward scholarship aid. Each year there are more than 100 endowed scholarships awarded to Saint Peter’s students. There are both partial and full scholarships funded through this program.

Annual Scholarships

Annual Scholarships are funded through the generosity of donors that prefer their gifts be awarded to students in full when the gift is made. Much like endowed scholarships, the annual scholarship program offers students aid critical to their success and honors the life or memory of a named designee.

Admission to Saint Peter’s College

The admission process differs by school and in some cases by program.
Undergraduate Studies

The College of Arts and Sciences / School of Business Administration (CAS/SBA), our day session, accepts traditional students into the College’s bachelor degree programs. Courses are offered at the Jersey City campus throughout the academic year. High school or college transfer students may visit the CAS/SBA Office of Admission for additional information.

The School of Professional and Continuing Studies (SPCS) was established to continue the College’s long tradition of providing a quality, liberal arts and business education to adult students. The SPCS prides itself on offering a variety of course schedules on evenings and weekends designed to meet the needs of today’s adult students. Courses are offered at both the Jersey City and Englewood Cliffs campuses and a variety of off-site locations for convenience. Visit the SPCS Office of Admission for information on admission to our bachelor degree, associate degree, and certification programs.

All undergraduate summer sessions are offered by the SPCS as well.
Graduate Studies

Offering master’s degree and certification programs at both campuses and a variety of off-site locations, Graduate Studies has designed its course schedules to meet the needs of adult students. Visit the Graduate Studies Office of Admission for information on the admission process.
Specialized Programs
