High school seniors need to submit at least your sixth semester transcript to the application. If you’re a transfer student, please submit both a high school transcript and a transcript(s) of any completed college course work. If you took the GED, attach your scores to this application. All transcripts must be received before April 1, 2009, to be considered for scholarships.
If you’ve taken the ACT exam, please submit your scores or have your high school include them on your transcript. The ACT is not required for admission.
If applying for a scholarship, have all of the above to the Admissions Office by April 1, 2009.
If you are considering living on campus, make sure to complete the housing section of the application. This application does not reserve you a space. The application assures that you will be mailed a housing contract as soon as they become available.
After you graduate from high school or have completed your college courses, please have your school(s) send a final transcript(s). If you took the GED, have official results sent from the State Department of Education. You will not be permitted to register until complete and official transcripts from your high school and each college attended have been submitted.
Don’t forget to complete the Free Applicaiton for Federal Student Aid. Our priority deadline is April 1, 2009.

Freshman Scholarships

All applicants must carefully review the admission Application Instructions and ensure that all required documents (including no less than an official 6th semester high school transcript or a final transcript for students that have already graduated from high school) are on file with the Admissions Office by the first business day in February filing deadline.

The following criteria are used to determine initial eligibility for our top scholarships:

Surbeck
: Students with an ACT composite of 30 or above and top 10 percent of high school graduating class are considered for the four awards of $7,000 per year. Provided the recipient maintains a 3.00 or higher cumulative GPA, the award is renewable for an additional three years.

Presidential
: Students with an ACT composite of 30 or above and top 10 percent of high school graduating class are considered for awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 per year. Provided the recipient maintains a 3.00 or higher cumulative GPA, the award is renewable for an additional three years.

Tech Challenge
: Students with an ACT composite of 30 or above and top 10 percent of high school graduating class are considered for awards of $3,000 per year. Students with an ACT composite of 29 and below and top 10 percent of their graduating class are considered for awards of $2,000 per year (this award is limited and awarded until funds run out). Provided the recipient maintains a 3.00 or higher cumulative GPA, both levels of the Tech Challenge are renewable for one additional year.

Other: Some of our scholarship donors have set up scholarships with very specific eligibility criteria. These one year, non-renewable awards range from $100 to $2,500.

If scholarship funds become available from a higher dollar amount or multiple year award due to a recipient turning down their scholarship, awardees may be “moved up” to a more prestigious scholarship as appropriate. In addition, as scholarship funds become available, students that were not selected in our initial awarding process will be reconsidered for scholarship funding and notified accordingly.

Scholarship recipients will be notified of their awards approximately the third week of February. All applicants are notified whether or not they have been awarded a scholarship.

Complete an application and submit it, along with the $25 application fee, to the Admissions Office in Takena Hall. Visit www.linnbenton.edu/go/degree-partnership for more information
The application is available only online. The $50 application fee must be paid for with your credit card.

I want to transfer credits from another college to LBCC

LBCC accepts college-level credits from regionally accredited colleges and universities. The guide we use for determining acceptability is Transfer Credit Practices of Designated Educational Institutions, published by AACRAO, and Practices and Accrediting Institutions of Post-secondary Education, published by ACE.
To transfer credits, have your previous school(s) send Admissions an official transcript and complete a Transfer Credit Evaluation Request form. Evaluations are completed only for admitted students. Evaluations are completed on a first-come, first-served basis. Evaluation results are mailed to you after they are completed.
If you wish to transfer credits from a foreign college or university, you must have the credits evaluated by an external evaluation service. Contact the Admissions Office for a list of approved credential evaluation services.
International credentials are to be evaluated by any NACES (www.naces.org) member.

What programs do you have for high school students?

Visit High School Connections for more information.

I want to get my GED

Call 917-4710 for information.
Register for and attend a GED orientation session.

I’m under 18 - can I take classes at LBCC?

If you’re not yet 18, haven’t completed high school, and don’t have a GED certificate, you must file an Underage Enrollment form before you can take a credit class. (Forms are available at the Admissions Office/First Stop Center and from high school counselors.) Call 917-4753 for details.
To take a noncredit class, you do not need to submit an Underage Enrollment form, but you do need the instructor’s permission. If you are denied by the instructor, you may submit the form to be reconsidered for that specific course.
If you’re under 18 and want to start taking GED classes, you must provide evidence of release from compulsory attendance or home schooling, or you must be referred by your high school through use of the Underage Enrollment form
